It's more than fishing ... it's a way of life.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters
The Big Brothers/Big Sisters Fishing Picnic is an annual event that the Englewood Fishing Club Co-sponsers with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Sun Coast.
It usually takes place in April at Chadwick Park, Manasota Key, and between 40-50 young boys and girls and their Big Brother or Big Sister Sponsor join us for a fun morning introduction to fishing followed by a "hot dog" picnic.
Rods and reels are donated through the Fishing Florida Foundation (license plate program) and Gasparilla Marina provides the bait and beverages. The Englewood Fishing Club runs the activities and provides the 40-50 Club Volunteers it takes to assemble the rods, cut the bait and provide the "tutoring" to help the kids learn about fishing and catch some fish. We have a mini tournament with prizes and certificates are awarded. Everyone gets to keep their fishing rod.
VOLUNTEERs are what makes this event a sucess.

TIME: Fishing 9:00am - 12:00 Noon
Picnic 12:00 - 1:00pm
