This is an Individual Tournament, not a team tournament. Participants in this tournament must be Englewood Fishing Club members. The tournament is for members only, and only fish that are caught by members may be weighed in. All anglers will obey any and all Federal, State, and local fishing and boating laws and regulations including sizes, bag limits, and speed zones, etc.
There will be 2 divisions: Shore Division and Boat Division. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place awards for each division, but no overall award. An angler must weigh in at least one fish to be eligible to win an award.
All anglers must sign up for either the Shore Division or the Boat Division, and weigh in their fish in that division. The sign up and registration forms will be available at the March 10th meeting and must be completed by each angler. The deadline for sign up is at the captains meeting April 1, 2011.
The Shore division is for any angler who fishes from the shore or a pier or structure that is tied to the shore. A shore angler may wade from shore, but not from a boat or use a boat to get to the shore.
The Boat division is for any angler who fishes from a boat. Anglers who fish from a Kayak or similar craft must also enter the Boat Division. A boat angler may not leave the boat and fish from shore or a pier, or a structure that is tied to the shore. All and any boats used in this contest must be registered as required by law, and shall meet all safety requirements as prescribed by Federal and State Laws. Tournament officials will monitor VHF via Gasparilla Marina and cell phone # 941-223-3243
A captain's meeting will be held Friday April 1st starting at 5:30 PM at Charles Walsh's house at 690 So. McCall Road, Englewood, FL 34223. The meeting is open to all registrants. Any angler who has not yet registered and wishes to do so, must complete a registration form and hand it in at this meeting. Any questions in regards to this tournament may be directed to Ric Curcio by phone: 941-497-7890 or by email: EMAILED4-RIC@Yahoo.com.
Rules for both Shore and Boat Divisions: Time and Check in: The Tournament begins April 2, 2011 @ 7:30 AM only fish caught after this time are eligible. Boat anglers must check in by calling 941-223-3243. Each boat will confirm the names of the anglers on board and the areas where they will be operating. Late check-ins are allowed. Shore anglers do not have to check in. Boat anglers that will not weigh in must also check out. Weigh-in will take place for both Shore and Boat anglers at the Gasparilla Marina docks near the large closed storage facility under the pavilion. Weigh-in is from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM. The official time will be kept by the Weigh-Master. Anglers must be in line by 4:00PM in order to qualify. Each registered angler may weigh in ONE legal fish per eligible species. The maximum number of different species an angler may weigh in is six. Boat anglers that are not going to weigh in, must notify the weigh master by calling 941-223-3243 prior to the deadline. (This is to insure that all boats are accounted for.) SCORING: One point will be awarded for every (up to 6) eligible fish species an angler weighs in. One point will also be awarded to the angler with the heaviest fish in each eligible species. In the event of a tie, the length, as defined by Florida regulations for that species, will be the tie breaker. If still tied, then the earliest fish weighed in will be the final tie breaker. In each division total points awarded will determine 1st, 2nd, or 3rd places. In the event of a tie, the angler with the earliest weigh in time will be the winner. Questions, disputes, and enforcement of all tournament rules will be made by the tournament director whose decisions will be final. Winners will be announced and awards given out at the Spring Barbecue on Saturday April 16th at the Rotunda Community Park. Sign up sheets for the barbecue will be available at the April 14th meeting.
